In TradeStops, you can customize the information that you see about the positions in your portfolio. This can be particularly useful if you’re looking for specific information – such as fundamentals or which positions might be best suited for income.
Beyond that, you can even customize your alert views. This is incredibly useful for quickly checking if positions have been recently triggered or even how long the stock has been in a certain state.
Let’s get started!
Accessing Position Views
Position Views can be found in the Positions & Alerts section of TradeStops. Make sure that you’re in the positions section to review position views.

Positions should have a blue line under it.
On the very right side of the page, you’ll find your position views.

There is a lot you can do in this area, but we’ll make it easy to follow.
- Your active view will be highlighted in gray. Here you can see the Income view is active (1). When a view is active, you can edit it with the small pencil to the right of the view’s name. Note that the view must be active to be edited.
- If you have more than 3 views, the additional views will be stored in the small drop-down triangle (2).
- You can add a new view by clicking “Add View” (3). On smaller screens, this will appear as a plus (+) sign.
Once you choose to edit or add a new view, an editing window will appear.

- Enter a name (1) for the view if you haven’t already.
- To rearrange columns, simply click on the column header in the area below and drag and drop it to its new location (2).
- If you make changes that you would like to undo, you can click “Reset to Basic View” (3) to go back to the default columns.
- Click the Save button (4).

Accessing Alert Views
Next, we’ll cover alert views. As we mentioned earlier, using custom alert views can help you quickly visualize how your stocks are performing in the market.
To get started, make sure that you’re on the Alerts tab.

Make sure there’s a blue line under Alerts.
Just like with Positions, you’ll find your Alert Views on the right side of the page.

Remember, your active view is highlighted in gray. The pencil lets you edit the view. The small drop-down triangle lets you see additional views (only if you’ve made more than three). And… you can add a new view with the “Add View” button.
Once you edit or add a view, the edit window will appear.

- Enter a name (1) for the view if you haven’t already.
- Click the check boxes for columns to add to the view, or deselect columns you would like to remove.
- If you make changes you would like to undo, you can click “Reset to Basic View” (2) to go back to the default columns.
- To rearrange columns, simply click on the column header in the area below and drag and drop it to its new location (3).
- Click the Save button (4).
A Note on Alert Views
You might notice that some of your stocks appear twice on the alerts view area. Don’t worry! It’s nothing that you did wrong (or anything wrong with the program).
In the photo below, you can see that AAPL appears twice.

The alert description that we added, however, solves the mystery of why there’s a duplicate. We have a SSI and VQ alert set on the AAPL position. So… we don’t have two AAPL stock positions entered, but rather two alerts.
