Back in 2016, we introduced the concept of the 2 VQ approach, which has us adding to our winners once the position has trended up by 2 VQs.
Let’s pretend that you have a stock with a VQ of about 21%. When the position goes up 42%, you’d then add to the winning position. We discussed an example of this in Constellation Brands (STZ).
The technique saw some impressive gains for the position, and many of you asked for a 2 VQ alert. At the time, it wasn’t possible. You had to simply add a price alert based on what the stock’s price would be after a 2 VQ move.
Now, we’re excited to announce that the 2 VQ alert has been added to both TradeStops and Crypto by TradeSmith.
Adding a 2 VQ Alert
You can add a 2 VQ alert from the Position Card Page. Simply click on a ticker symbol that you own (or watch) within either program. Next, click the Alerts tab. Then, click Add Alert.
In the menu that appears, click Price. From there, you can add the 2 VQ alert to your position. You’ll then be notified when the latest close is 2 VQ above your entry price.
As we mentioned, this alert is based on your entry price, so make sure that you enter that information. If you happen to be missing it, that’s OK. You can simply go to the Position Detail tab on this page to add your Entry Price.
For some of our subscribers, the concept of 2 VQ might be a little foreign. That’s OK! We’re here to help. TradeSmith and Tom Meyer have written some excellent editorials on how the concept of 2 VQ is useful and how it can help your investing style.
We’re sure you’ll love the research and the latest update to the programs that allows you to put it to work immediately.
On another note, we’d like to welcome our new subscribers to Ideas by TradeSmith. We’re so happy that you’ve decided to join us. And, of course, we’re happy our current subscribers are here, too. To thank all of you, we’re hosting a webinar featuring a comprehensive product overview. You won’t want to miss it. Register to join us March 6 at 1 p.m. Eastern.
We hope you enjoy the new 2 VQ alert. It can help you know when your positions are trending up in the market and when it might be time to add to your winners.
As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to let us know. Our email is [email protected]. We’ll usually get back to you within one to two business days.
Until next time,
