The market has been volatile lately. Do you know how your portfolio of stocks is doing?

TradeStops make it easy to see how your current holdings are performing in the market. You can do this from two specific research tools within the program – the Asset Allocation and PVQ Analyzer.

Let’s get started!

Accessing the Asset Allocation

You can find the Asset Allocation tool in the Research section on TradeStops. Just click Research, and then click Asset Allocation.

You can tell that Asset Allocation is active because it has a blue line under it. Later, we’ll click the PVQ Analyzer, but for now, we’ll stick with the Asset Allocation.

Areas in the Asset Allocation

There are two main sections to work with in the Asset Allocation tool.

Two primary sections of the Asset Allocation tool displayed

At the top, you’ll see an area for your portfolio, the option to include cash, and how you’d like to group your stocks.

To change portfolios, simply click the portfolio name in the upper left corner. When the list of available portfolios appears, just click one from the list. Then, it will be the active portfolio that you’re analyzing.

Once you select a portfolio, a colorful pie chart will appear.

This shows you how diverse your portfolio is. The Legend to the right of the pie chart tells you the percentage you are invested within an industry or sector.

You can further dissect this pie chart and see which stocks make up the sector or industry. Just click the color part on the pie chart, and the stocks for that industry will display below.

The display then shows you how much each stock is invested in that sector or industry.

The Asset Allocation tool is a great way of checking if you have a balanced portfolio or if you need to add a little more diversity to it.

Now, let’s check out the PVQ Analyzer

The PVQ Analyzer looks at your portfolio’s overall risk. Please note that portfolio and stock risk are not the same thing. If you want to learn more about this concept, you can watch Tom Meyer’s webinar.

Once again, to access the PVQ Analyzer, just click Research and then click PVQ Analyzer.

Just like the Asset Allocation tool, the PVQ has a couple sections.

The upper section lets you pick a portfolio to analyze and choose if you want to include cash.

To switch between portfolios, just click the drop-down box in the upper left corner. In the list that appears, you can select another portfolio.

To see which stocks falls into a risk level, just click the color on the pie chart.

The stocks will appear below the chart, showing which are considered, say, medium risk.

The PVQ Analyzer is a good place to check how risky your overall portfolio is and if you’re too heavily invested in risky stocks or if your risk is more equally balanced.
